Privacy
Gelup does one thing: lets your friends wake you up. We only collect what that takes. No ads, no selling data, no ad trackers.
Who is responsible
Gelup is published by Levco Web. For any question about your data: contact@gelup.app.
What we collect
| Data | What it is for | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone number | Creating your account and signing in (code sent by text) | Nobody but you |
| Your username and profile photo | So friends can find and recognize you | Gelup users (username and photo only), except people you blocked |
| Your birthday (optional) | Letting your friends know so they can record you a wake-up | Your friends |
| Your friends, requests and blocks | Knowing who can send you a wake-up | The people involved |
| The wake-ups you record (audio, 30 seconds max) | Ringing the alarm of the friend you send it to | The friend or friends you send it to |
| Your reactions, voice replies and morning photos | Replying to the friend who woke you | That friend |
| Your alarm times and time zone | Getting the right wake-up ready at the right time | You; friends only see the day of your next alarm, never the time |
| Your phone’s notification token | Sending notifications and updating your alarm | Nobody |
| Plays of your wake-ups | Showing you who your voice woke up | The wake-up’s author |
| Your reports | Removing inappropriate content | The Gelup team |
Your contacts
If you allow it, Gelup reads the phone numbers in your address book to show which contacts are already on Gelup. Numbers are compared with existing accounts, then forgotten: they are not stored. Your contacts’ names never leave your phone.
Microphone and photos
The microphone is only used while you record a wake-up or a reply. The camera and your photo library are only used when you pick a photo to send.
What we don’t do
- No ads, no ad trackers, no selling data.
- No location tracking.
- No use of recordings outside the service: a wake-up is only there to wake the person it was made for.
Where your data lives
Your data is hosted in France: the database and files at Supabase (Paris data center), audio processing on a Hostinger server in Paris.
A few providers help run the service, only for that purpose:
- Twilio sends the sign-in code by text (receives your number).
- Apple and Google (Firebase) deliver notifications to your phone.
Twilio, Apple and Google may process this data outside the European Union, under the safeguards provided by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses).
How long
- The raw recording of a wake-up is deleted as soon as it has been processed.
- Your data is kept as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, your data is erased immediately, and your files (wake-ups, photos, replies) within the hour.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to its processing. Most of this can be done in the app (profile, photo, birthday, account deletion). For anything else, write to contact@gelup.app: we reply within 30 days. You can also contact your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL: cnil.fr).
Deleting your account: see how.
Minimum age
Gelup is for people aged 13 and over. Where local law sets a higher age for consent (16 in some countries), a parent’s consent is required below it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page is updated. For a significant change, we let you know in the app.
